The beds and tables that I offer are authentic reproductions of popular 18th Century models. Each is created with the same materials and detailed craftsmanship that distinguished the original. Each shares the long-admired qualities of the finest antique furniture: style, durability, and good workmanship. Original pieces are carefully observed, studied, and measured, in order to bring the finest old styles and ingenious craftsmanship to life.
Beds are built to fit all the standard mattress sizes with choices of various mattress support systems, or can be made to suit your specific requirements. Cherry and maple are used most often for the beds' framework and headboard, though, at additional cost mahogany, walnut, or figured maple are also available.
This same care is taken in adapting copies of early table styles with an eye toward maintaining traditional proportions while accommodating today's seating arrangements.
All the lathe work is done by hand to best duplicate the uniqueness found in each original turning. This further sets the piece apart from production-made furniture. The work is performed in an 18th century replica woodworking mill with turn of the century machinery used for roughing wood parts to shape. Hand tools are then used to fit and finish all joinery work, just as craftsmen have done for centuries. All parts receive hand planing in preparation for a finish of varnish, oil, or milk paint. Bed pieces are assembled with traditional mortise and tenon, and bed bolts. The bolts are then covered with decorative bolt covers where suitable. Tables are fitted with mortise and tenon skirts and legs, and slot and mortise bread board ends.
The finished piece is a beautiful asset for your home and will only appreciate in value during its many years of service.
